Mission
The Color of Food aims to address the lack of voices from Asian, Black, Latino and Native American communities in the dialogue on healthy food and food justice. These topics have rapidly come into the limelight lacking input from diverse communities. If we cannot see and hear from our communities, we will not have a food system free of racial inequities.
Projects
Directory:
The Color of Food is growing an online directory and map worldwide of farmers, urban growers, food activists, and other food-related initiatives led by people of color and/or communities of color. This not only allows for easy access for consumers and increased marketing for farmers and markets, but will also serve as a powerful model within the food movement where the voices of communities of color – our most impacted communities on the issue of food security, land rights and health - are not being heard loud and clear.

Stories:
The Color of Food is launching a photo documentary project, and is also working with Bessai Transmedia on a full-feature documentary film telling the stories of farmers of color across America. The Color of Food also runs Brown Girl Farming - a blog on race, farming and food justice from the eyes of a biracial young farmer.
